As for more "standard" philosophical expectations, Eric has you covered too! He has plenty of articles (and edited books) on ethics, Xunzi, Confucian philosophy, Mencius, Plato (and Aristotle) and various Confucian philosophers. See more here:

This advice, by the way, shows Eric's generous nature (sharing thoughts for the sake of students, not for academic glory). This is attested also by his continuous effort as a) reviewer of key books in Chinese thought and b) translator of Xunzi.

Don't miss his "Advice for #students wanting to pursue a PhD in Chinese thoughts", with interesting reflections on methodology, on how to pick the program one is best suited for, and on learning languages early. Much of it is, btw, applicable also to other philosophical traditions not in English.
