UK investors are among the most aggressive users of ISDS. They've claimed almost £19 BILLION from fossil fuel-related cases.
This is almost TWICE as much as international climate finance paid by the UK between 2011-2021! ⚠️

ISDS, written into our trade deals allows corporations to sue states in corporate courts, over policies they allege damage their interests.
Fossil fuel companies globally have been by far the biggest beneficiaries, winning over $80 BILLION in ISDS claims 🤬

The UK’s set target of reducing its greenhouse gas emissions is commendable.
But its plan lacks concrete detail on how it will work toward a globally just transition.
There is also worrying reliance on dangerous distractions like carbon capture.

Just a few months ago the UK has been challenged through ISDS because of the rightful shelving of the Cumbria coal mine.
Now it is trying to tie its own hands in new trade deals with these climate-wrecking, democracy-defying corporate courts.
