"My parents come from the Caribbean. I sit with an embodied, deeply embodied, knowing of my truth, of our truth. And that energy, and how I choose to use my energy, is a very important concern when considering our responses." @drdianneregisford.bsky.social responds to Starmer's speech

"We call upon the Labour government to withdraw its proposed immigration rules which are inhumane, unfair and unachievable for many.

The government needs to be lead by what's right, just and needed to support a sustainable UK economy to the betterment of all who live here."

"People of the global majority in the UK are feeling more unsafe since last summer’s racial riots and the rise of Reform in the recent local elections. What we need right now is a leader who truly understands the need for multiracial unity in our diverse society. Not someone who echoes Enoch Powell"

"We become strangers when the government cuts back on community services, council house building, sports, arts, preventing access to a full life, by making public transport expensive, cutting back PIPs, and social care.

"Becoming strangers has nothing to do with immigration.

Frantz Fanon: "In decolonization, there is therefore a need of a complete calling in question of the colonial situation. If we wish to describe it precisely, we might find it in the well known words “The last shall be first, and the first last.” /..

On Holocaust Memorial Day our thoughts are with the millions of Jewish, Roma, Black, Asian, LGBT and disabled people who were killed in Nazi Germany

Through those horrors we said Never Again, leading to the Genocide Convention.
