Nuclear power in Europe is falling further behind.

Wind & solar capacity under construction now exceed nuclear 14 to 1. Meanwhile, the nuclear sector has seen 122 GW cancelled, 68 GW retired, and 90% of the remaining reactors are more than 35 years old.

High costs and long timelines have stalled nuclear power worldwide.

Nearly 40% of all nuclear projects ever proposed have been cancelled — 566 GW in total, more than the world’s entire operating & retired fleets combined.

If built, they could emit 15.7 Mt of methane a year — more than 🇯🇵’s total GHG emissions.

Combined w/existing mine emissions, the sector’s footprint could rival that of the 🇺🇸
