crazy how philip reeve invented the only characters ever
hester shaw and shrike from philip reeve’s “mortal engines”. shrike is a frightening undead cyborg man, with huge round green lamp eyes, skeletal metal teeth which he exposes in a grimace, and tubes and wires coming out of his head and neck. he wears a military greatcoat over a body which is all metal armor and messy circuitry, tubes, etc. his hands are metal claws. on his back he carries young hester; the only visible parts of her are her dirty bare legs, locked around his waist, her arm on his shoulder, and part of her head, on which one can somewhat see that her face is severely deformed by a scar that overtakes nearly half her features.
