They are absolutely Beanie Babies. Though, I'm not sure how they are worse. They are both stuffed animals that have somehow become big collectors items, one just looks like something Maurice Sendak would draw.

They do stock the outpost fairly regularly, it's just rare they are as flashy as the Emporium. Agreed that having more cosmetics tied to commendations would be the way to go.

For me, I just want new ways to play while sailing the seas with my crew, but the Smuggler Voyages are too easy, too repetitive, and too similar to previous content. If you want to move fiddly cargo from point a to b, there is already a trading company for that with better rewards.

Exactly. I assume they are also trying to cater to new players, so new sources of gold isn't the worst idea. But as you've said before, it doesn't give you the rep levels to access later content in the Trading Companies or Legend status. At best, it's a lesser way to fast track captaincy.

…but what we currently have is missing a good hook, both in gameplay and in rewards. While making the gold number go up is fun, I personally need something more to keep me coming back to new content, and that’s missing almost entirely from the Smugglers.

…in hopes they put a little more creativity in upcoming seasons. I assume part of the issue was adjusting to the new roll out schedule.
I do want them to return to the Smuggler’s League down the line, as I think there’s a foundation for something fun there…

From what I've heard, it's an improvement over the first game. I assume it's a big deal if you are already a fan, but probably doesn't get much buzz outside of that. Though I do think the Game Awards gives Kojima more focus than other media. He regularly attends and makes announcements at the show.

I'm sure that doesn't hurt, but I think Kojima is a big enough draw on his own. Granted, I can't speak to the quality of the games. Only played the first and fell off of it pretty quickly, but mostly due to getting drawn into other games. Didn't hate what little I played.

I don’t think I ever encountered one, so maybe they weren’t as common in my area as word of mouth lead me to believe. I think “water moccasin” is also a regional name. They are also known as “cottonmouth”, which I didn’t realize was the same snake.

The floppy hat will be in the movie, but all the main characters will think it looks silly. He'll only wear it sometimes because his elderly relative or other loved one made it for him, but he'll come around on it in time for at least one action scene near the end.

I'm imagining a standard travel fantasy story where they need to get the mcguffin to defeat Ganondorf. There will be at least one large scale battle and a single "dungeon" (if you squint at it). Zelda may or may not be captured before the end, but will shoot a light arrow as part of the climax.

Growing up in a rural area where these snakes aren't uncommon, it never occurred to me what someone would imagine hearing the name not tied to a "look out for these snakes" warning.

I'm not sure they've given an official answer, but my theory is they want that loot to exist outside of the normal emissary system, which is also why the base gold reward is higher than other loot. Narratively, it makes zero sense, and less so after you do the secret Smuggler mission.

Apparently there is a free version that doesn't require scanning. But to be honest, I'm also skeptical of the tech, nor do I see the need for it given how good the game's sound was already.
