a really fun thing you can do with youtube: take any video game longplay, turn the resolution down to 144p, then blow it up to fullscreen. it's like you're watching a video game entirely as it would be rendered in a preview screenshot in an old issue of Gamepro.

maintain that there's a chunk of reflexive defense and rationalization of dem behavior that is not out of fandom but out of fear, wanting, needing, something badly to hang faith on. an extremely understandable urge.

but to actually deal with the problem, you need to accept that it is there, first.

people mistake this for being a doomer, when it's really just "bad shit is going to happen. knowing that, what do you do when it does?" very pragmatic. but some people can only function with total and complete born yesterday faith, because even a little negativity/doubt would shatter them.
