It's been a week so I'll give the answers:

Hair makes it seem more like an original character or fursona. A spicy choice as I think the wrong colours could make the design too "distracting".

The spikes are a classic but seem a little basic. But you can rarely go wrong with spikes.

I'd go with spikes if I wanted a more beastly look.

Every balloon you pop gives you a little more size.
