I'm a tour guide and hiker who has a healthy relationship with facts.

A game show with prizes for evidence-based answers could save our country.
I have ideas. #publichistory

Trump's ear was nicked while he spoke in Butler, PA and he has no scar. Does he mean "minor" like that?

And the LIES have it.
In his opening speech, Speaker Mike Johnson just recited a long prayer attributed to Thomas Jefferson.

As @jackjenkins.me and others have pointed out, Jefferson never said any of this: www.monticello.org/research-edu...

Republicans tout high crime rates in “Democrat-led cities” without mentioning almost every large city is democratically led. One exception, Jacksonville, Florida, elected its first democratic mayor in generations. Crime has plunged under her watch since 2023.

I do love original documents in a post.
From the Declaration of Independence:
He has endeavoured to prevent the Population of these States; for that Purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their Migrations hither, and raising the Conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

“We become strongest, I feel, when we have no friends upon whom to lean, or to look for moral guidance”
― Benito Mussolini

This attitude seems reflected in the entire incoming administration. Pesky moral guidance.

“Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power”
― Benito Mussolini

Came to mind as the new administration taps billioinaire CEOs to lead the country forward.

ChatGPT refers to #DOGE as a past failure:

"Both [Reagan's 1984] Grace Commission and the DOGE plan reflect conservative approaches to governance. However... both efforts had limited success. Their legacy lies more in their ideological and symbolic value than in substantial change.

"Move fast, break things," urged by Travis is a composite of "blitzkrieg" and "kristallnacht."

The Sturmabteilung (Brown Shirts) was disbanded in 1923 after the Munich Beer Hall Putsch failed, but was re-founded in 1925. Travis wants the Sturmabteilung back.
WATTERS: “Even the ones that were slugging cops?”
TRAVIS: “Even those guys.”

On Fox, Tennessee-based Clay Travis says Trump should pardon “all” the January 6th Capitol attackers, including the ones who viciously assaulted cops.

First snow of the year you can build with. My kid says this guy is sad because he lost his arms in the war. Undetermined which war.

MYSTERIOUS LIGHTS IN SKY: Tonight I saw a string of lights moving in unison over Westchester, NY. Initially I felt like a 5 year old and seeing Santa's sleigh at last. Instead, the internet tells me it was a satellite train sent up by Starlink.

On your commu-, commu-tation;
You will like it, like it, like,
When you take your next vacation.
Very glad people using #booksky introduced me to the Libby application. It’s been great listening to library books on my commutes to the city.

Read it. Loved it. That’s true of most Sedaris, but this one is short - much shorter than the travel adventure described.
David Sedaris writes about travelling with his longtime partner, Hugh—and asking him if a stranded passenger could join their drive from Maine to New York. “The look he gave me was not one I had never seen before.”
The Long Way Home After a Cancelled Flight, by David Sedaris
Had I proposed earlier that we invite someone stranded to come with us to New York, Hugh would have said no. But now there was really no way for him to back out.

We can have nice things here.
It was like being in a bar filled with dudes talking over each other while in a bathroom stall. Bluesky is like being in a coffee shop where I can actually hear myself think.
