.. true, is it not better to accept that and plan for it. Inform our allies they are on their own so that they can plan accordingly? They say “hope is not a strategy”. They also say “hope keeps one in line for the firing squad”. Just a thought. Maybe we need to be a bit more worst case scenario.

I liked your piece sir. I have to wonder and am checking myself though. We “hope”. Looking objectively a rational actor might also say we crossed the rubicon with our election. If russia were to attack more of Europe the US would not fulfill its obligations under article 5. If that is or could be..
