(he/him, INFJ) I do law stuff so you don't have to. Legally required to disclose that I'm awesome, but I'm sure you'll find that out in Discovery. #Lawyered
For example, Kratos eventually learns that the violent pursuit of revenge just begets more violence and revenge, so he makes a conscious effort to break the cycle during Ragnarok, something Ellie utterly fails to do, even after having an obvious off ramp to a happy life with Dina that she squanders.

Obvious clickbait reporting aside, there are reasons why storytelling tropes (such as revenge) stand the test of time: they reflect key aspects of humanity itself, such as the moral tightrope that is walking the path between righteous justice and hate-fueled vengeance. Dig a little deeper, IGN

Also, I heard a rumor that GameStop is requiring people to physically bring the Switches in to confirm they have the game(s), but I haven’t found concrete confirmation

I believe you forgot to mention that these are version exclusive: you get Shiny Miraidon in Scarlet and Shiny Koraidon in Violet. You can get one Pokemon per code, so you’ll need two codes if you have both games.

Get Shiny Koraidon or Shiny Miraidon at GameStop and EB Games
Visit your local GameStop in the United States or EB Games in Canada, Australia, or New Zealand to obtain one of these Shiny Legendary Pokémon.

Besides, if they’re looking to mimic the gameplay of the Arkham series, while tailoring the story to the Bat family, it makes sense to not have drastically different characters like Killer Croc or Mr. Freeze be playable, and instead focus on those who fight similarly to Batman.

I see where the devs are coming from on this one. For those who played the Skywalker Saga, be honest, how many characters did you *actually* use consistently in that massive roster? You likely used a small handful of your favorites, or those with unique/necessary abilities.

The Fireflies HOPED they would’ve been successful, and according to Druckman, they would’ve been, but they didn’t KNOW they were destined to succeed (or at least there aren’t in-game clues speaking to the Fireflies being certain). Hoping and Knowing are very different things.
June 22, 2025 at 11:12 PM
I say meta-gaming not with respect to his intent, but to speak to the differences between what he knows, and what his characters know. If his characters (the Fireflies) lacked the certainty he has, then Druckman is speaking about something that is not in the record, that isn’t presented in the game.
June 22, 2025 at 11:08 PM
I wonder if the game might’ve been received differently if players had a choice of whether to go to Cali or not. Even if the more “hopeful” choice is non-canonical, you’re at least giving players the agency that is so absent throughout the game, the ability to make the choice Ellie can’t or won’t.
June 22, 2025 at 10:54 PM
What does that say about the Fireflies? Are they that 0.00001%? Or do they just not care about Ellie’s life mattering beyond her sacrifice and what it does to advance their goals? Or did they truly have the certainty that Druckman spoke about? I don’t recall finding in-game clues re: that certainty.
June 22, 2025 at 10:49 PM
Like I said above, it tells the story it wants to tell very well. I just think it’s the wrong story to tell. I say that not to highlight a flaw of the game, cuz you’re right, it’s not a flaw, but an aspect that is disappointing nonetheless by the fact the game doesn’t try to be that something more.

As an aside, while playing as Ellie in CA pursuing Abby once again (even though the way things ended in Seattle indicated it was over between them), I recall saying out loud multiple times, “Why am I doing this?! I shouldn’t be here. Go back! Live your life with Dina!” If that was the intent, bravo.
June 22, 2025 at 1:43 PM
However the game doesn’t attempt to offer a counterpoint players can rely on to soften the harshness. You don’t have that moment of Joel telling Ellie that her being alive matters. You don’t have that moment when someone, anyone, talks about life being precious and worth protecting instead of taking
June 22, 2025 at 1:36 PM
Ellie, on the other hand, made the wrong choices throughout the game, and literally has nothing left to show for it. I agree that the game is very artful in the way that it drags its players along, kicking and screaming, as Ellie makes these bad choices, especially the epilogue in California.
June 22, 2025 at 1:33 PM
I agree that Part 2 is a well made game that tells its story very well. It’s just the wrong story IMO. When you are “the Last of Us” (humanity) life becomes that much more precious and shouldn’t be wasted on martyrdom, or vengeance and hate. Your life matters to the people around you. Choose to live
June 22, 2025 at 1:27 PM
Not to mention that Ellie, in being pissed at Joel, glorifies martyrdom as her life “having meaning” but here’s the funny thing about martyrs: they’re too dead to know if their sacrifice accomplished the intended goal, or if they needlessly wasted their life. I wish Part 2 offered this counterpoint.
June 22, 2025 at 1:23 PM
When you remove that certainty, the choice becomes that much more complicated. Would you sacrifice someone you’ve grown to care deeply about on a CHANCE at saving the world? Could you live with yourself if you did? Especially if that death was in vain? I think Part 2 fails by not addressing this.
June 22, 2025 at 1:20 PM
I don’t recall there being the kind of clues in environmental storytelling to indicate the Fireflies worked out the science and Ellie was the final piece to the puzzle. I think they were just gonna root around in her brain and see what they find, treating her like a lab rat to be used and discarded.
June 22, 2025 at 1:17 PM
You mentioned that Druckman stated the cure would’ve been successful. I could be wrong, but I think that’s meta-gaming on his part, cuz I don’t recall the Fireflies knew for certain that killing Ellie would’ve led to a cure. They HOPED it would, and there was a CHANCE, but I don’t think they knew.
June 22, 2025 at 1:15 PM
Older games run so much better, including demanding games like Cyberpunk that would’ve been impossible on Switch 1. The lack of exclusive Switch 2 games isn’t an issue IMO as I work through some backlog on improved hardware. I see Switch 2 as a long-term investment. The games will definitely come.

I always forget that Bridget Jones’ Diary is supposed to be an adaptation of Pride and Prejudice because Bridget Jones in no way resembles Elizabeth Bennett. Do all of these films muck up Jane Austen novels? Or just the first one?
June 17, 2025 at 7:52 PM
The franchise should’ve stopped at 3. The 4th was okay at best, helluva lot better than 5. That one is Rise of Skywalker levels of bad. If they can do better than 5, I’d like to see them try to salvage things, but I have zero hopes of them succeeding.
June 17, 2025 at 7:47 PM
Agreed. You’ll unlock every kart just by playing the game naturally. Unlocking every racer though, that’s more of a headache
June 11, 2025 at 12:05 PM
Of course, taking the Crossbow Expert feat eliminates this issue, but I thought this was worth bringing up because I don’t know how the act of loading the crossbow interacts with “Readying” something else.
June 6, 2025 at 4:23 PM
Finally got around to watching this one, and I think something may have been overlooked: can you do your “Readying” action to use True Strike as a reaction while also loading the crossbow? Does attacking via True Strike override the limit of the loading property? I genuinely don’t know.
