This chart masks efforts to offload some admin from doctors and the outsized role our health system has in providing social services. There is research out there, already. A graph like this deceives if one doesn’t consider the dramatic changes over those decades, not all of which are negative! 👨‍🔬

There are a lot of layers to this. Sure, some of this is unnecessary, and I agree. But a lot of this mirrors the dramatic changes in the fields of medicine, massive reductions in error rates, new treatment areas and therapeutics, aging populations, and huge increases in health insurance coverage.
