On my end, it depends on canvas size. Maybe one huge brush to tackle the background and then 3 brushes for the meat of the painting. Normally, I have two or three. But it's the same brushes over & over again, until one day I can afford more materials, a bigger space, & more expensive brushes.

Random question- how many times do you water your snake plant. I have an anti-green thumb 😂 the most low maintenance plant ever & first one went to plant heaven 🙈🪴💦

Thanks for your tip. I have very limited materials, maybe 3 oil paint brushes, more acrylic brushes than anything. That also makes me think if we can use acrylic brushes for oils 🤔Thanks for sharing about the walnut and linseed oil. Now I have some sort of idea what to look for at the art shop.

Hi Paul, Usually for acrylic brushes, I dip them in water between uses, but what do you do with oil brushes? I'm new to oils, and usually have them laying on the side with a rag to clean, but some brushes dried up. 🫣 Thanks!
