What a great milestone to get 500 subscribers on my YouTube channel. Thank you to all those who support my music which is done for love of Tolkien’s works. I’ve only been composing for about 8 years. You are never too young to begin something new.
This scene sums up my recent experience with AI image generation 😬I had a wonderful conversation with the AI interface about this Monty Python scene and it understood exactly the point I was making.

Ozmoot is comeing to Canberra in January 2026. The theme is celebrations so I'll be doing some SilmFilm music catchup to have a few pieces to play at Ozmoot. First one is the Wedding of Galadriel and Celeborn, never written into a scene by Tolkien but scripted by SilmFilm youtu.be/_fvozXvSNiI

I've just dropped a new piece of music for SilmFilm. I'm back in S6 to continue Luthien's story after her escape from a sentient tree and she has a fateful meeting with a large dog.

My final piece of music for season 7 of SilmFilm. I hope this is moving. It is meant to be as it captures the sacrifice of the men of Dor-lomin to allow the elves of Gondolin to escape what becomes known as the Battle of Unnumbered Tears from Tolkien's the Silmarillion youtu.be/0gc1d2Q8U_M

Here is an excerpt from one of my musical pieces showcased last week on the SilmFilm end of season 7 session. The Nirnaeth Arnoediad was a great season to score, and I'm not finished. Here is a taste of what you can find on YouTube www.youtube.com/@philmen32

I have just dropped a new piece of music, the City and people of Sudh Beredin, the place where the Easterlings came from in The Silmarillion which was probably near what later became known as Bree youtu.be/uZ3bGd1hYZw #SilmFilm adaptation

@jtauber.com thinking more about “the kiss” and your comments about Bear McCreary missed the memo with the swell of G’s theme, I think there is more going on in the music. Just before, we get for the first time in the show G’s ostinato. She’s at her lowest point about to die. Only way is up.

I'm leaping into the world of YouTube shorts. One problem with publishing music on YouTube is the short attention span of most viewers, most not getting past 30 seconds. This short is the climax of my longer video Enter the Perilous Realm youtube.com/shorts/EWr4Q...

My latest musical piece for SilmFilm is the Laughter of Lalaith. She only gets a few lines in the SIlmarillion but her story is loved by many and is far too brief. This is a scene from S7E8 called Laughter and shows the calm before the storm. youtu.be/Xq3m9enEIj4

S7 of SilmFilm is well underway and I am doing my best to cover it musically. This is one of the most iconic scenes in the Silmarillion and it needed to sound like Galadriel and Halbrand entering Numenor for the first time, hints of themes before a final full theme statement

Here we go on the Covid merry-go-round again. All four family members got it. At least I have more time to write music. I’ve almost finished Hurin, Huor & Handir (talk to the SilmFilm people about that) go to Gondolin.

Here is my first composition for Season 7 of SilmFilm. It was fun. Set in the time when Hurin and Huor were living in the Forest of Brethil it follows the action in the script. This is a piece of fan fic to fill in the gaps in the story. The images act as storyboards youtu.be/TDKOaNBYuSc

I am working on a new composition for #Silmfilm based on S7E1 called Enter the Perilous Realm. It is the story of Hurin and Huor going to Gondolin although for those not following Silm Film you may be shocked to find that they are accompanied by their cousin Hamdir from Brethil.
