"The way to help someone is not to critique what makes them smaller, but to encourage what makes them larger." James Clear

Same with your dog. Reinforce the things you want to see more of so - you don't need to punish anything. Build behaviours.

The best training tool? Your relationship. Relationships are built through a long history of positive reinforcement #realmentrainwithoutpain

Your dog isn’t stubborn—they’re confused, overwhelmed, or unmotivated. Be their guide,
not their critic. #PositiveReinforcement

Train the dog in front of you. Not some imaginary, magical notion of what they should be.

Your dog is allowed to perform differently on different days, at different times. Our behaviours are not always excellent, please don't expect your dog's to be.

Positive reinforcement training works even with the "serious" breeds (Rottweiler x presa) whatever that means.

No need for shock collars, prong collars, slip leads or other such nonsense.

SQUIRRELS! Let them watch.

There's a gap between dogs noticing prey animals (squirrels, rabbits, cats, sheep, deer) and them moving to chase.

Enhance and reinforce the behaviours in the gap.

Breathe. They can come down from it and reconnect with you.

Play tug with your dog. Let them win often (if not all the time), teach them the rules, kindly. Short bouts to cap arousal, especially for terriers and bull breeds.

No, it won't make them "dominant".
Yes, it's great for increasing your bond with them.

New lad, been with me for two weeks. I don't know if he's seen highland coos before, we start we mean to go on.

Don't wait til problems arise and then try to fix them if avoidable.Teach many skills from the outset.

Build a skilled dog.

If you like it, pay it.

The EASIEST way to start seeing more of the behaviours you like, is to start reinforcing them.

Build this as a daily practice.

What behaviours are you working in with your dog?
