To mark the nineth anniversary of the Colombian Peace Process, Andrei will share reflections from his new memoir, We Are Not Made of Sugar.

The event will be chaired by SPP manager Noor al-Naser. It will also include a performance by academic and musician Magda Angélica of Rafael Landívar University, Guatemala, currently a visiting scholar at Glasgow.

The event will centre around a conversation between Andrei and Juliana Ramírez Muñoz from the University of Edinburgh. Through the interweaving of family history and the trajectory of the conflict, the conversation will explore the opportunities and challenges for peace in Colombia.

The event will centre around a conversation between Andrei and Juliana Ramírez Muñoz from the University of Edinburgh. Through the interweaving of family history and the trajectory of the conflict, the conversation will explore the opportunities and challenges for peace in Colombia.
Andrei played an important role in the peace negotiations with the FARC and continues to be involved in work around the implementation of the agreement. The book tells the story of Andrei’s childhood growing up during the conflict.

Matt and Ronnie will discuss the deeply entrenched ideologies that shape processes of redistribution, state-citizen relations and ultimately tax policy, and the trajectories and legacies of the equality drives of the Latin American 'Pink Tide' governments.
