Close Encounters of the Third Kind is on iPlayer, haven’t seen it since I was a kid. Every shot is art. Incredible.

Been watching a lot of the original Miami Vice as research for a project, and the apartment sets they use are often absolutely spectacular visually.

🎮 Elite Legend continues to be the best game I have played in years. The sheer level of detail packed into 128k is incredible - missions, passengers, fleets, wrecks, asteroid mining, hermit planets. Fired a missile at a pirate last night and he hopped into hyperspace just before impact, cheeky.

Amazing, and now a quick Google suggests he actually designed a lot of lamps! There is absolutely no way a film recorded hand-held on DV tape in 2005 should work still in the year 2025, but it's the mix of gonzo film-making and insane attention to detail (like this) that fascinated me.

Just got done watching Inland Empire. Is it weird that the main thing I came away with was that I like David Lynch's taste in lamps?

Also, the #sounddesign choices in this film are fantastic.

First day back from holiday feeling. On a side note, maybe I need to work in children's tv for a bit, less intense reference material!

@mrsambarlow.bsky.social will appreciate this - look what I got running on the Amiga 500! The original graphics are tiny tiny though.

* Was post-war Europe cool? Cold, certainly. Although to be fair Jean Cocteau made post-war ruined Paris look pretty cool in Orpheus.
