This is absolutely insane. And unbelievably cruel. I am trying to imagine how I would have felt if my student visa was revoked, for no good reason.

While they're called the Dry Andes, this section of the range is home to a few oases. This marshy vega was the watering hole for some horses, goats, and guanacos during field work last March. These waters, will supply San Juan Province throughout the year ⚒️ #landscapes

This textbook example of a rock glacier is one of the many cryogenic landforms I'm using to evaluate alpine permafrost extent in the Dry Andes. While not as visually striking as regular glaciers, I think they're beautiful in their own unique way. 🥼❄️⚒️
