On our doorstep, walk past it most days, and today decided to go into the Tower of London and remind myself of British history spanning back 1,000 years - the poppy display commemorating 80 years since the end of WWII is beautiful.

From the iconic dome of The US Capitol and the neo-classical grandeur of the national edifices along the National Mall to the brutalist 1970s FBI building and then onto the stunning American Indian museum, Washington DC is an architectural feast!

Georgetown is the one of the oldest parts of Washington DC, and has retained it’s charm and elegance in both it’s buildings and it’s vibe - no wonder the Kennedys lived here and students flock to the illustrious Georgetown University.

Washington DC is grand yet small, history rubbing alongside contemporary, and easy going and friendly. The key sites are amazing, but over the coming days we are looking forward to exploring the other less photographed side of DC.

Just 45 minutes drive from Glasgow city centre, the small town of Arrochar set on this beautiful loch provides stunning views and quiet space!

Fountains Abbey maybe a ruin, but a ruin that has many of its stunning architectural wonders still standing proud after 800 years, set in the beautiful Studley Royal park.

The humidity has not dampened the delights of Penang - from a melting pot of urban living to rain forest walks with monkeys, this island has a lot to offer.
