Trump's call for the execution of elected leaders and veterans who advocated for our Constitution and the rule of law is insanity. Preserving our democratic norms shouldn't be cause for controversy.

Big Tech companies like Meta know all too well that their products are addictive and dangerous for kids. It will be interesting to see how Meta responds to the congressional testimony from the two new whistleblowers later this afternoon: www.judiciary.senate.gov/committee-ac...
How many times will Big Tech show us that they will never put young users first? Their personal wellbeing and privacy goes against the bottom line — if Meta won't protect our kids, Congress should make them.

Members of Congress should be working for the American people — not taking advantage of inside information.

We applaud the bipartisan legislation introduced in the House today that would ban members of Congress from trading stocks while in office.

#BigTech billionaires do not care about people nor protecting democracy. Instead, they want:
--to wipe out people and make way for #AI.
--to have this new, AI post-human species be defined as "humanity."
--to have "humanity" rule the world and universe.

It's #posthumanism, and it's creepy.
If we are to effectively combat the AI industry’s accelerating push to build digital gods in the form of AGI, we have to understand the ideological underpinnings of the antihumanist project, writes Dr. Émile P. Torres.

Here’s the bottom line for what’s going on with Grok - if the owner of the website is putting his thumb on the scale hard enough for the chatbot to turn into Goebbels, you should be deeply concerned about what he’s doing to the algorithm that you can’t so easily see, and what it’s doing to you

This kind of violent rhetoric is especially dangerous after someone literally disguised himself as a cop and shot/killed Minnesota state legislators and their families. Our leaders should emphasize de-escalation and civil discourse that helps our democracy instead.
Threatening or implying violence on elected officials that don't agree with you is not a good look. Respect for the rule of law, diversity in opinions, and productive dialogue are key to ensuring democracy. www.usatoday.com/sto...

The decision to bring the #NationalGuard to LA against the governor's wishes will do nothing for public safety nor national security. It will only normalize a precedent for the federal government overriding states' authority and erode the distinction between law enforcement and the military.
In response to the alarming news that the Trump administration bypassed CA authorities by deploying the National Guard to quell civil protests in LA, Issue One's VP of Advocacy Alix Fraser provided the following statement: issueone.org/press/d...

My Issue One colleagues found that #BigTech companies have poured more than a quarter billion dollars into shaping policy in the last few years. If this isn't evidence that their money is distorting our society, our #democracy, and our fundamental sense of shared reality, I don't know what is.
We are engaged in a fight over who governs in a democracy: the people, or the Big Tech companies, argue Issue One’s Alix Fraser, Michael Beckel, Liana Keesing, Mia Minkin, and Isabel Sunderland. If we want technology to serve the public rather than exploit it, they write, the time to act is now.

At least Zuckerberg has one more year until 42. By then he should know that the meaning of life is protecting children and your country, not creating companies that throw everyone else under so bus so that you can make more profit.
Happy Birthday Mark Zuckerberg!

We hope your 41th trip around the sun has more respect for user privacy and less kowtowing to hostile foreign governments, but we’re not holding our breath

The House just passed the SAVE Act earlier today. Despite its name, it would take power away from the people and would put the freedom to vote in danger for millions of Americans. Hopefully, the Senate will see the problems with this bill and not pass it.
The SAVE Act puts unnecessary burdens on election officials & volunteers. More costs. More training. More confusion. All with no funding. We need election policies that work.
