Just me.
Also - Schindler es muy bueno, Señor Burns es el diablo. I guess I’m travelling to the states anytime soon.

It’s worth doing in the long run. I run a UniFi router and then APs positioned appropriately at the end of wired Ethernet runs powered using PoE.

Well - on first inspection. It was the genericness that was the ultimate tell. Subtle yet profound. That spark of actual creativity and craft was the differentiator. That’s what this told me about the things made by humans.

We proceeded to search eBay and other online stores. A photo or painting would be fine. It very quickly became apparent that the whole marketplace is flooded with AI-produced posters. It was rather depressing and difficult to tell them apart (they certainly didn’t say). It was rather depressing… 2/2

This so rings true. I travelled to Europe with my wife and teenage daughter over Christmas and the new year. We particularly enjoyed our time in Lake Como (and Menaggio in particular); so much so we decided to get one of those old-style tourist posters of Lake Como for one of our walls… 1/2

To get an insight into why cookers think the way they do this article is worth a read:

...and yes - the actual research has an actual DOI and everything: doi.org/10.1080/0022...

I wonder whether if there is some overlap with those people susceptible to cults?
Winning with misinformation: New research identifies link between endorsing easily disproven claims and prioritizing symbolic strength
Conversations around misinformation that assume everyone cares about literal truth may be missing the point.

3x/ You don’t need to and should not tolerate this. I have responded to [more moderate / less culty] Trump supporters. Staying civil with this crowd (which are the only ones worth engaging with - the culty ones are different, but are a lost cause) takes the wind out of their sails. Pick your fights.

2/ I don’t, as a matter of course, weigh in and shit all over their party; it pays to be respectful (demure, thoughtful) & if I do comment I try and follow these principles. I expect the same of others. When people resort to name calling + cheap shots then they *are* acting in bad faith. Period. ⋯

Re: blocking and the position that is leads to an echo chamber. Yes - there *is* a risk here - but the line isn’t where it should be in most cases. As @radiofreetom.bsky.social says - be ecumenical. I subscribe/follow a number of people I don’t agree with and who irritate me. It’s good discipline.⋯

PS: You are in good company. Agatha (my gorgeous and smart wife for those not in the know) weened herself off FB 2-3 years ago now. We watched The Social Dilemma on Netflix last night - which is an appropriate thing to watch at this stage.
