The Giraffe

Not a giraffe and hardly ever on a stick. Probably too heavy to balance on one these days.

Long-vowelled Southerner living in Scotland with a Home Counties accent that just won't go away. Female of the species.
Well that's 2025 kicking off on a low note: I'm only featured in the Daily Fail online. Don't know whether to be embarrassed or horrified (both!)

(thanks to @mrsvhp75 on Instagram for sending me this)

And they love to display them in the weirdest of positions....

Bluesky UK drivers - which Highway Code rules is the blue car breaking if facing the wrong way down a road and does a U-turn at the entrance of the junction, as the red car is turning in?

Needed for a complaint to the blue car driver's employers after he gave me (red) abuse for sounding my horn!

It's -3 outside. This is how my neighbour drives off to work. A small area at the bottom of her windscreen marginally cleared.

Windows open so she can see.

Never scrapes or de-ices her car, shoves her windscreen wipers on full until she thinks she can see.

The sound of scraping wipers is 😬😬😬

I did a watercolour painting class this morning.

I really enjoyed it.

I've never painted before because I always believed I have zero artistic skill, so said by kids at school (aren't kids cruel?!).

It was very interesting learning very simple basics. Might have another go at some point...

Took this picture last night on our way home. 6hrs of motorway driving and we got back to this.

That lot up object underneath the lamppost is a traffic cone

It was a bit flooded here.

What a shame that this has happened and I was supposed to be going to the gym this morning.

Terrible shame that my PT has cancelled. 🤣🤣

I love it when the road is untouched and so smooth and crisp like that. I'm sure someone will be down to ruin it. The joys of a turning circle....

Why yes, these were the perfect pre-gym snack (errrm)

Dad's been having trouble with his PC earlier. Thankfully my sister was over and I walked her through a DNS flush and IP renew.

Later, he messaged me "we're still having trouble, can't enter my banking customer number".

I tried everything I could think of.

Until this message.

I nearly wet myself

Repost with a photo that exemplifies where you live.

I should add that the sky doesn't look that blue today.

Maybe you need to be on the dark side..... #TeamAndroid 🤣

Google memories are full of this ball of fluff. Nearly two years on from when we said goodbye to him, I think now I realise what a lovely first cat he was.

Always adopt the senior ones, they've so much love to give.

Clearing out my aunt's loft this week, we came across this.

She's been shoved in a box with no lid for 60+ years in a dusty dirty attic.

I might actually apply to the Repair Shop with her.....

Until then, she's the stuff of nightmares...... 🙈🙈🙈

I do love a Parker workhorse.

I am currently using a slim Lamy CP1 and a TWSBI Swipe in lime green for the sheer gaudiness of it.

I'm ready!

I think that if the technology is so crap that it continually does this, you shouldn't be charged for any fuel you use during this time. I have zero idea how much electricity and gas I'm using.

These IHDs are buggy and inconsistent.

I was only talking about quicksand the other day.

Lo and behold, East Renfrewshire can't decide what it is (or no one will test, wimps), so you get a three way warning.

The stick figure looks quite happy about whatever they're sinking in.

And yes, southerners - this is today - grey, wet and dull

It was definitely different! It was accurate for me apart from the "I'm a 10/10". I don't believe that about myself! This makes me sound quite arrogant and I am definitely not!

I've said this elsewhere before, but these are the best M&Ms out there.

It's probably a good thing that they're not available here in the UK because I would be even fatter than I am now....

That would've been a vast improvement on Hands Face Space signs back in ye olde days of COVID lockdowns....

Every time I visit my parents, I rootle around in the loft for a bit of fun.

This week, I found the Fisher Price house. I loved this - I used to balance the people in the chimney whilst it was open, and slamming the house would fire them around the living room. I'd get scolded but it was FUN 🤣

The M6 played nicely today, although many drivers could do with using the left hand lane more.

I'm talking about you, FOX 805S. You sat in the third lane for your entire journey doing anything from 65-85. Have you heard of cruise control? I have.

Anyway. Home, washing on, dinner sorted, now wine:

If anyone is on the M6 today I am driving it end to end, south to north, as part of my journey home.

I think the 6-7 hours in the car is by far the worst bit of living away from the family.

But I do it to see my 5mth old nephew who is an absolute joy of a kid (at the moment....)

The wife let out an almighty scream earlier and stuttered "thing, on my back!!"

Turned around and this beast was on her. Swiftly took my glasses off and expertly* flicked it across the pool with the arm of my specs.

It wobbled off after about 5 mins, disgruntled

*by pure luck. Was a helluva flick
