A jury found Spencer Shumski not guilty of murder in the 2023 stabbing death of Clint Allen in Sale, Victoria:

Clint Allen was fatally stabbed outside a Sale hotel in May 2023 after a night out celebrating his wife's birthday. Allen was described as a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Shumski told friends he had done "something terrible" and sent messages to them saying he expected to go to jail. He told his parents he was on his way to meet a friend when he was "rushed" by a group of people. The jury was discharged, and it's not clear when the case will return to the Supreme Court. Shumski maintains his not guilty plea.

The Great Alpine Road in Victoria's high country has been closed in both directions after being damaged by a sinkhole. The sinkhole emerged at Jackass Gully between Harrietville and Hotham Heights about 7am on Saturday.

This huge mural depicts local native birds and botanicals. It deliberately showcases small native birds - firstly as a reference to the regions coal mining history and its reliance on canaries and secondly the absence of small birds indicating issues with a changing climate. The featured birds are a double-barred finch, flame robin, silver-eye, golden whistler and a red-browed finch, which are all found in the Korumburra region. Residents have reported a mini tornado wind storm ripped through Dawson Drv and Howard St, Warragul this afternoon.

The wind has stripped roof tiles from houses, blown over trees and sent trampolines flying.
