After reading the #DSA #Art28 guidelines (consultation now open) it becomes clear why ‘Instagram demands an EU directive to implement age verification & parental consent on app stores’. They aim to avoid #AgeVerification , neglect children's privacy, safety & wellbeing, & pass the buck on to parents

Banning children from social media is problematic:
1. it undermines their rights
2. does not protect them (it may expose them to further risks and create inequalities)
3. scientific evidence is controversial
4. the burden should not be on children & parents alone
