This hurts 😢

The average acidity of the Mediterranean Sea had a 18% increase over the last 40 years.

The cause is the increase of atmospheric CO2 concentration, part of which is getting dissolved in the oceans.

This is amazing, if it wasn't for the bleak view it provides on air quality in major cities around the world.

Air quality stripes analogue to @edhawkins.bsky.social's global warming stripes.

This is Rome, Italy (wish that more were available, especially from North Italy 😷).

The heatwave that hit Paris earlier this week would have been impossible without climate change.

As much as I'm enjoying the Paris Olympics, we can't keep organising these events as we used to, for the sake of everyone.

For the record, Paris is around 2°C warmer now than the 1961-2010 average.

For #ShowYourStripes day, here are the #WarmingStripes of my home country 🇮🇹 Thanks to @edhawkins.bsky.social

The mean temperature anomaly for the last couple of years was around 2°C above average!

Italian summers have become unbearable. This one won't be different 🥵

These are the #WarmingStripes of Genoa, the main city of my home region.

Clear warning trend over the last 40 years. The last two summers were both around 2°C above the 1961-2010 average.

The city is also very sensitive to extreme precipitation events, which are increasing due to #ClimateChange.
