Dog lover , caring for husband with dementia , interested in politics, Labour supporter .
Losing someone close is so hard, it leaves such a big hole in your life , I really feel for you .
I will have to help my neighbour if she needs it , she’s pretty robust , she’s 78, hoping that in 6 weeks she will be back on her feet and independent again .

Sorry about your cousin, were you close ? It’s horrible losing anyone though.
Neighbours had her op today and is recovering, think she’s coming home on Sunday , wonder how long her sons will stay to help her ? I’ve been going to see her twice a week since her husband died .

By the time I got back and had a drink and calmed down it was about 3 , didn’t sleep much so very tired yesterday and today.
Hope you are OK , I’m fed up with the weather .

Well !! Ben has been reasonable the last couple of days, but I’m shattered. Had a phone call from next door neighbour at 10.45 pm on Tuesday night, I was asleep , but fired out of bed. She had fallen and broken her hip, to cut a long story short, called an ambulance ,taken to hospital about 1am.

This is how far I’ve got, there’s along way to go

I don’t like thick yarn either. I’m using cotton yarn on the current blanket , I’m enjoying it but it’s quite tricky and complicated with lots of colour changes . I chose it for that reason , I can’t think about anything else while I’m doing it . Show me your baby blanket when it’s finished x

In fact he did sleep quite well, or at least I didn’t hear him , but could get up and find the furniture moved. Got frustrated last night , I wanted to get some crochet done and although he had football to watch he kept messing about with things , hopefully better today .

Bit fed up tonight , had to give up and come to bed because Ben kept on talking nonsense. Fingers crossed we both have a good sleep and things are better tomorrow 🤞🥴

Thankyou , it was actually OK , apart from the last hour when Ben got tired and mega confused . Although it was freezing it was lovely and sunny which was cheering . Hope you had a lovely day with the family and didn’t get too tired x

How are you both doing, are you all ready for the Christmas onslaught ?
I finished one blanket , and started another , it’s quite tricky , but a good distraction , it may be some time before it’s done though .🥴

Not too bad , although up 3 times in the night with Ben wanting to “sort” something out, no idea what, and just told him to get back in bed. I’ve been trying to find small jobs for him to do in the mornings , which also helps. I don’t think things will be great by this time next year.

Not too bad , some good days and some pretty awful . Ben has stopped going to Tescos each day as he can’t understand money anymore. I have though wrapped and despatched all my Christmas presents so that’s a plus. How’s things for you ?
December 4, 2025 at 6:34 PM
Yes you do , thought were going to have trouble last night but didn’t he slept OK .
November 27, 2025 at 6:54 AM
Today has been OK , had a visit from friends which was nice . Disturbed night last night, Ben was dressed and downstairs at 1.30 am , apparently waiting for someone to pick him up, took a while to get him back to bed and settled. 🤷‍♀️

I’m not sure, but think you can put it in trust for them , I think it means they don’t have to pay inheritance tax on it .
November 24, 2025 at 6:36 AM
Yep , and that’s about £5000 a month. If Ben needed to go into care, we would lose half the house( his share) and half the money we have , which would mean if he died , I would struggle to have enough money and there would be very little to leave the girls.
November 23, 2025 at 11:23 AM
No help , unless you have less tha £23000 and that includes the value of your house .
November 23, 2025 at 7:14 AM
Does seem a bit harsh , it can cost up to £1000 a week for 3 visits a day. I won’t be able to do it alone though as I’m quite small and he’s , not enormous, but 121/2 stone and I can’t lift him , it’s hard enough when he needs help to get out of the chair .
November 22, 2025 at 6:39 AM
You can get help if you pay for it , but I expect the time will come when I have to.
