My favorite poet, Andrea Gibson, has died. While I never got to meet Andrea or see them speak, their poetry has had a profound impact on my life. Their quote “the truth may not be hopeful, but the telling of it is” lives on the bulletin board above my desk to remind me why I do this work in news.

I’ve been at the MD General Assembly in Annapolis all day. Early highlights:
— we have a budget
— of interest to my readers; looks unlikely that the special elections bill will get a final vote
— ^ditto for birth certificate modernization act
— there was much debate about the definition of mold
