Spotlighting fashion dolls that are Asian & of the Asian diaspora & its related discourse. Sometimes posting about other diverse dolls as well. Always curious about new fashion dolls. *mixed Filipino Aussie woman owned account*
That sucks. :( Thanks for the heads up about the Christmas Mimi! That also really sucks. How can you tell about the hair type? I still can't even tell the difference with hair types.

I realised that this Mimi reminds me of the Kid Kreations Flower Shop Sindy doll, whose also a little hard to find these days.

I'm sorry to hear! This Mimi is beautiful. If you still wanted her, maybe you could try a proxy service that ships from South Korea? I haven't tried one before though, so I'm not sure who is reputable. I have seen some proxy service suggestions on the r/internationalshopper sub on Reddit.

I'm still learning about Mimi & other South Korean fashion dolls myself. N knows the most about them on here since she's South Korean herself. We talked in these comments about Mimi's quality these days, which seems to have gone down sadly (just like Barbie). I still want a newer Mimi doll though.

It's sad to see the quality of dolls go down. My boyfriend's brother has kids & they prefer to play with electronics mostly as well. It's how it is these days sadly. Also the toy market generally is very saturated, so it's hard to get people's attention as well. I hope Mimiworld can improve one day.

Thank you for heads up. I'll keep an eye out for brunette Mimi dolls. I would hope that because this Mimi doll is limited edition that her hair might be nicer but I guess it wouldn't surprising if it wasn't. It's crazy to hear about the heads discolouring quickly! Maybe they're using cheap plastics?

That's disappointing to hear. I believe it though. It sounds like what's happened to Barbie has happened to Mimi as well. The older Mimi doll I have seems pretty sturdy. I don't own a newer Mimi doll yet.

You did a great job with the legs! I've bought a few Barbie Pop Reveals now & they come with slime. I just leave the slime where it came from. Though, Barbie Pop Reveal Rise & Surprise came with kinetic sand (she's a beach themed doll), which was fun & not too messy.

The most I've spent so far on a new doll was about $180AUD for "Styled By Design 2" Barbie (Carlyle Nuera's Filipina Barbie) from Mattel Creations. I spent about $165AUD for the vintage Allan repro from Mattel Creations (I had to buy an Allan doll after watching the Barbie movie!).

I wish Mattel did cool stuff like that with Barbie. We want fun stuff too! Yeah, I think I prefer Barbie (or Barbie-esque) proportions over others. But I do want to branch out & buy a doll or two (Gotta have a friend for them, of course!) of other brands like MH, RH, Bratz & Blythe at some point.

I didn't get to take a pic of the Steffi Love playsets. There's a Baby Doctor playset, a playset with koalas & a playset with dogs, Steffi & her little sister Evi Love. There's also a pack of 2 metalllic markers (gold) that are good to colour in doll accessories. I bought them & already tried them.

I think it would be very interesting to see Mattel and Monster High (or even for Barbie actually) make other "-punk derivative" dolls like a cyberpunk doll or clockpunk doll, for example.

As a non-fan of Monster High (I do have other dolls but have mainly stuck with Barbie & My Scene) but an admirer of the steampunk aesthetic, I too am tempted by Robecca Steam.

My inner Christmas grinch says yes. Ha ha. I'm a December baby though, so I reserve the right to dislike Christmas a little bit. lol

Glad to see that she arrived safely.

No worries! Fashiondollz is a fantastic resource for learning about all the Barbie face molds, so I think everyone should know about it.

I love the fashions!

Fashiondollz has a page on all the dolls with the Mari sculpt. As you can see, there's less than 10 dolls using her face mold (Even though she was Barbie's second friend of Asian descent, she wasn't used for such a long time!). fashiondollz.de/1998-mari-fa...

Mari, the name giver of this face was introduced in 2000 as new asian Teenager in the „Generation Girl“ series....

Her outfit reminds me of Madonna's cone bra outfit. Though all cone bras remind me of Madonna's original one! I wouldn't buy this doll, though I don't collect Bratz anyway. I have thought about buying a Jade doll but haven't taken the plunge yet (Admittedly I don't like the MGA CEO, he's a racist).

Mari is the name of this Barbie mold. Her first doll is Dance Party Mari (also known as Mariko) from Barbie's Generation Girl line. Mattel don't use the Mari face mold much & they haven't released a doll with the Mari mold since the Lunar New Year dolls. I'd love to see a Mari Deluxe Style doll!

Mari is stunning. I have to get myself a modern Mari doll when I can!
