A leashed tri-colored beagle/dachshund mix rolling around in the green grass beside a sidewalk. His brother got white belly is the most visible part and he is clearly enjoying his roll in the grass. Just visible at the extreme lower right corner is end of the leash, which is held by his exasperated owner who has waited through no fewer than 6 such grass rolls in a half block stretch. This is NOT an exaggeration.

A construction site with visible studs and wafer board backing. There is a 36 X 38 window now framed into the wall. There is no finishing of any kind and open insulation is seen to the right. Loose kitchen cabinets are to the left of image. There are scrap pieces of white styrofoam on a gray concrete floor and a yellow and black sawsall tool to the right. More reno today
A construction site. There is a large opening to the outside in the center of image. The walls are wafer board and 2 X 4 studs. Currently, we are working on enclosing the opening, which was a door, and installing a window in that space. There are two men visible both facing away from the camera. More mudding today and found an awesome chair at the secondhand store yesterday
A drywalled wall with drywall mud patches covering the seams and screw holes. There is a small, blue chest of drawers in the middle foreground and a gosh-awful blue and white checkerboard patterned couch to the right in foreground. This is destined for the trash heap as it is in rough condition. The previous homeowners left it when they moved out. Don’t blame them, it’s pretty bad. A royal purple, crushed velvet chair with matching ottoman just visible behind it to the right. The chair is on a low furniture cart and is being prepared to load up into a gold Honda CRV in the background to the right.

Today’s it’s super humid. Did a little sanding of drywall before the big heat of the day hit. Between the plaster dust and sweat, I looked like I was battered for deep fry by the end 😆

It’s a tad humid out of late…

We also found a never used, special-ordered, sliding glass door and a window. However, the find hubs is most proud of is “his” door, which he calls the “Door to Narnia.”

And some cool tile too. Here’s some of the mosaic tiles (for a dash of color in a white backsplash wall) that hubs found at local thrift store and some colored glass tiles (just the blues but there are salads of other colored tiles too) that will eventually be used in kitchen and, maybe, bathroom.
Mosaic tile sheet. The tiles are 1 X 1 inch, the sheet is 12 X 12 inches. Tiles are colors of gold, yellows, greens, grays, blues, purples, and browns. Some have iridescent colors. Backdrop is a white cloth. In center, a white rectangular box that contains glass tiles. Some of those tiles are displayed flat in front of the box. The visible tiles are in various shades of blue from very pale to ultramarine and are about 2 X 4 inches in size.

Tiling finished ✅
Got to wait for it to cure a couple of days but the kiddos shower should be grouted and sealed by the time the week is over. I’m totally skipping out on the grouting and sealing part though, if I can help it 😄

There is something absurdly satisfying about tiling. Most everything I do is cerebral. I appreciate being able to use the hands for some crafty-ness. Dad’s side of family are builders (and some farmers). Wanted to go into that trade myself but was seduced away by paleontology 😉

A former student adopted one of my fish that was getting too big for my aquarium. After a time, the 🐟 died, as everything does. They just popped by and dropped of the ashes from Swim Shady (renamed Leia). I think this is the most wholesome thing I’ve seen in a long time.

Only about 1.5K but Doggo wanted to keep going despite his feet getting so cold he was alternating legs while hopping on 3 legs. Sure he’s talented but he’s also a goober who’s about a foot at the shoulder and little belly hair. 🥶🐶 It’s gonna be a long week 😆

A standoff this rainy morning
To the left is Finn, my beagle/dachshund mix. He has his back to the cameras and is staring intently at the lower trunk of a large magnolia tree. Center is that tree with a fox squirrel hanging upside down on the bark and peeking at Finn. The squirrel had just ran to the tree but would not run up the tree, likely because it knew Finn was leashed and couldn’t reach it. Life continued this way until my husband dropped the leash…

Grandbaby managed to get a hold of my phone and change the wallpaper, which is rather impressive since it was face-locked. I’ve decided this looks rather like an album cover for Finn’s emo period 😂
