I think it's best to include relevant details. For example, here's a photo with alt text. Note that I haven't described the texture of the sticks or whatever that orange thing is in the background. The point is to add enough information that a reader can participate in the discussion.

Every day my cat guides me to her kibble and screams until I stir it a little, and every day I stir her food like an idiot because I love her.
