I made these cinnamon rolls from scratch this morning and they were very pleasing and delicious on a Sunday morning.
An aluminum tray full of 8 cinnamon rolls smothered in melting cream cheese frosting. I got up at 5:30am and decided to start them. Well proved, but a bit overbaked by a few degrees.

One of the cool things I found out after researching our 1925 house is that it was built from a Sears Honor-Built Home Kit: “The Wayne.” The description reads: "One looking at the exterior of this house is impressed with its stability.” Ha! I guess that’s like me. Predictable and stable.

This is Uno. Formerly feral but outdoor tabby dude. He is fearless when it comes to death and kills at will. Squirrels. Rats. Little brown sparrows without a clue. I love him. We sit on the stoop when it’s stormy. I saved his tail. I ask him to protect us and he always does his best. Storm blowing through northern NJ. Flights at EWR routes elsewhere. Fast moving sun blooms.

After a horrendous week, we got to laugh together watching the brilliant, weird, and hilarious Betty Gilpin in "Oh, Mary!" A generous friend passed along some tickets at the last minute, and we braved Times Square on a cold February night to see one of the best live performances I've ever seen.

I opened up a book I bought in 2007 and this fell out. A @prairielights.com bookmark from when I was in grad school at Iowa in 2000. I love finding things in old books. I started The Lay of the Land and never finished it. Started it again and it's so much more interesting now that we live in Jersey.

The best Christmas was when I was 6 years old and got a Barbie Dream Townhouse right after being sick with the chicken pox for weeks. Purple corduroy culottes with leg warmers. The 80s were a blast.

Great news: we got to release backyard buddy Uno to the outdoors today. 15 days in an e-collar in a cage. And now back outside with the world he knows.

Logan has been on his diet for two weeks now and so far has not killed me. He did body slam me this morning when I didn't get up immediately.

Good news, bad news for Uno, our feral backyard buddy. The good news is that the vet said his infected tail bite is healing wonderfully. The bad news is he has to wear the cone in the cage for 5 more days after spending 10 in the slammer already. Sorry, man. Don't want you to lose the tail.

One of the best things I ever did was make our formal dining area into a cat cafe for reading, puzzle-doing, music-listening, and tea-having with our cats.
