I see that some U.S. tourism operators are offering exclusive deals to Canadians to try to convince us to visit. Honestly, even though I know there are (still) friendly people there, it no longer feels like a friendly border. I won't cross it. Trump trolling on the 51st state (again) hasn't helped.

Disappointed to read that Ontario is suspending its promise to add 25% surcharge on exports of electricity to USA, because of a meeting in Washington to 'discuss the future.' Trump's future plan = 51st State. This is a delay tactic. Don't play his game. Elbows up, Canada. Elbows up. #ElbowsUp

Happy National Flag of Canada Day! I want to thank all my fellow Canadians for making this such a wonderful place to call home. This land was home to Indigenous nations long before this flag first flew and I am thankful their rich cultures and traditions continue to shape our national identity.

The current book club read: Livingsky by Anthony Bidulka. Reading a murder mystery by a Canadian author, set in Saskatchewan, (with a trans main character) feels like an excellent antidote to the current state of the world.

I find it hilarious that James Blair felt it necessary to go on social media to "let it be clear" that U.S. officials never agreed Canada would not be the 51st state. Let it be clear: We don't care if your officials don't agree. It's not up to them. And it's never going to happen.
