I saw Blazing Saddles when it first came out in the UK. The one and only time I've literally seen a cinema full of people - not one or two, everyone - literally fall out of their seats laughing.

I'll go old-skool with 2f books that really flipped some switches in my head back in the day.

1) A bit academically dry but hey, I got through it aged 21: R.H. Tawney - Religion and the Rise of Capitalism

2) A very readable novel - Robert Tressell's Ragged-Trousered Philanthropists.

I'm at the point where I know that truth and kindness are my values and also know that it would be breaking news if republicans or conservatives anywhere exhibited either.

I'm thinking fund managers might be alarmed that the market manipulation is just too blatant on this occasion. Far better to have the gen pop think it's an aberration based on madness of some stripe rather than having people clue on to how much of it goes on.
