I'm confused why Canada is holding up better than expected. Does Canadians choosing Canadian products over US ones have anything to do with this? Or the removal of some interprovincial barriers? I thought it was too soon or too little for these to have much impact.

I'm a lifelong liberal & feminist. I'm not alienated by what Carney said-- sensationalistic headline aside, in context it made sense. I want Carney to continue to deliver on Liberal policies that improve women's lives. Substance. I don't need him to say performative BS like "the future is female".

Mandatory minimums treat the accused as a member of a specific class of criminal, not as an individual. We enact public policy in the aggregate if we must, but justice is dispensed individually to protect indiv rights. The SC decision may rest on this value, but it's unstated, so easily attacked.

Looks like our PM is finally starting realize the importance of controlling the narrative. The bad guys are out there flooding the zone with lies that agitate & anger. We need to flood the zone with facts in a frame that appeals to feelings of shared purpose, love of country, & hope for our future.

I think that when work on the dome begins, Trump may annex areas of Canada's north that he needs. He'll claim it's contested territory & needed for national security. Canada will only pursue legal remedies because we can't win a war against the US alone, & NATO will die as allies won't fight the US.

I hope that a future President divides the ballroom, using one part for state events, and the rest for a huge press room which will allow for many more reporters than the current tiny space. This will symbolically elevate the role of the free press back to the forefront of a revitalized democracy.

It's heartbreaking to see the Trump tactic of unrelenting chaos applied to the WH, symbol of all the democratic institutions he seeks to destroy. Trump acts with reckless speed & malice to overwhelm dissenters. No attempt to preserve the value built over time, just wanton, irrevocable, destruction.

The best remedy is dependent on the cause of your migraine e.g. hormonal, food, weather, etc. I suffer from hormonal migraines, and the class of drugs called triptans helps me. They're vascular constrictors and provide quick relief. (I use a nasal spray because I keep vomiting the pills out. Ugh.)

I've followed you on social media for years because you are an excellent curator of news that matters. Since legacy media is failing & new media is still in transition, I use your feed as a reliable info resource. I don't know how you manage to sort the gold from the dross, but thanks for your work.

By massaging Trump's ego, Carney protects Canada from becoming an even greater target of this vindictive man-child. Performative defiance would hurt, not help, Canada. Carney is restraining his ego for our benefit, revealing an impressive self-discipline and tactical pragmatism in service of Canada.

In the 1970s & 80s people worried about subliminal advertising, &, despite no proof of efficacy, govts regulated it. Now, we know algorithms manipulate human psychology to get engagement. We know algorithms are harming our minds and damaging democratic society, yet govts do nothing to regulate them.

So many people discussing Comey's indictment in a context of process and outcomes meaningless to Trump's amorality. Trump got Comey indicted. Comey & family will suffer emotional pain & financial hardship. Others will be cowed. That's the power play. That's it. Trump wins, regardless of legalities.
