Launching women’s & men’s pro soccer in Downtown Cleveland: @clevelandprosoccer.bsky.social. I don’t like the woods.
We’re smack in the middle third of developing our team identity — and I think how we respond, as a collective, to the word Denver, out loud, needs to be discussed & agreed upon 🤝

But there’s gotta be some sort of loud BOOOOOOOO in there.
when @ginaprodan.bsky.social retold how we lost the bid to Denver rn at #SportsLand I had to control slash quiet down my audible boo 🫤

Two of my three teams won this weekend. (Not shown: two yellow cards & the sudden onslaught of teen ennui.) @croatiajuniors 🇭🇷

There is so much damn crying in this job.
It is such an honor reading the responses to these surveys. The heart & hope in this community are unmatched 🥹

A quick minute preview of what’s on the episode & what it’s like once you get me going about soccer in Cleveland…
On the Soccer Business podcast with Simon Evans, we get into:

➡️ What WPSL Pro is
➡️ How we decided the league was the right next move for Cleveland
➡️ Why pro/rel in any league is great for every league (and the growth of the game)

What I loved most about New York Times writing this article — they wanted to know Cleveland’s next move.

Access & exposure to women’s sports can change presumptions faster than you realize (about way more than sports).

I’ve taken a few months mostly off socials (challenging when you manage a brand’s socials 😅), but happy to come back with the big soccer update!

What a lineup for this WISE Cleveland event at Brewnuts on Wednesday, April 16, 5-7 p.m.

Hear about at least 3 major new things developing in women’s sports for Cleveland, economic & greater impact of women’s sports & how 4 women got where we are today.

The number of times I’ve said “fuck knees” over the past couple years…
In the most wide-open women’s NCAA Tournament in recent memory, the Trojans had their best chance of getting back to the Final Four for the first time in 40 years.

And then JuJu Watkins got hurt.

Ilona Maher has scored her first try for the Bristol Bears!

She only had to stiff-arm one player.

Tamworth’s Beck-Ray Enoru hopping up on a teammate’s shoulders to tape the sagging goal net (with the GK’s finger tape) is everything. #emiratesfacup

It’s the whole “help all of them reach their maximum potential” that does it for me.
“It’s a significant jump from college to the pro game & an even bigger jump to the elite international level, but we will be patient with all these players as we understand the process & want to help all of them reach their maximum potential.”

Filling this gap is exactly what drew me to WPSL Pro. Our women’s side has dominated for two generations.

That won’t be the case if we don’t support the women’s path.

I am positively fiending for an NBA Championship this Cavs team is historic

I watched the local Cavs-OKC broadcast so I didn’t have to hear nationals figure out how to disparage two mid-market teams.

And it’s been lovely 🧡

I learned a lot in 2024. I was welcomed to be in rooms I hadn’t been before, to ask questions, listen in, absorb, experiment & learn more.

Working with people who do that — welcome, encourage, mentor, amplify, nudge — is life-changing.

2024 said what it said. Let’s see what 2025 has in store.

The Pop Tarts Bowl sets a new standard for brand sponsorship in sporting events.

If you’re just putting your name on the game and not putting a toaster in the trophy, sprinkles on the field & sacrificing a mascot at the end… why bother?

Is there a way Denver & Cincinnati can lose this game and both miss the playoffs because I have personal beef? 😇

In the words of Jack Berger: “I’m not gonna sugarcoat it for you. He’s just not that into you.”
Details: 12 top Boston Public Schools events per year get first priority for scheduling, then NWSL games. No more than 2 NWSL games per four-week period, games must start by 8:30 pm ET, no more than 4 weekend games per season starting before 5 pm ET to allow daytime BPS usage.

Part of me thinks this storyline expires with the functional Internet.

Part of me knows President Bartlett would still call the hotline.

As a Clevelander: I had already googled Caroline Jurevicius’ lineage before they put Joe on the screen.
