Oh...the poetry of this episode, so beautifully written and poignant.

White-knuckle panic.

It's Sci-Fi noir. The camera work/lighting is all in shadows and and sharp focus and creates the perfect mood. The best of them hold up as masterpieces of the small screen.

Same playwright who did "Sorry, Wrong Number" which was played by Agnes Moorehead on radio.

Loved her in this ep. and as Rose on "Upstairs, Downstairs" which she co-created with fellow actress pal Eileen Atkins. Rest in peace, bonny Jean. She left us in April of '25.

Martin Balsam was married to Joyce Van Patten (TZ, Outer Limits) and their daughter Talia Balsam (Homeland) was married to George Clooney and is married to John Slattery (Mad Men.)

It scared me so much (and I saw it first-run) that I can't watch it anymore. I have seen it a few times since, but it takes me right back to being a 10 yr. old kid who'd never seen anything so terrifying and suspenseful.

James Whitmore is awesome.

Pre-TZ: "Forbidden Planet," "Bad Day at Black Rock," classic films. I've always found "The After Hours" extremely moving.

I got these from Twilight Zone Magazine years ago. The box plays Rod's intro, of course.

The beckoning specters scared the hell out of me as a child. The length never bothered me, they weren't really an hour long due to commercials, but, yes, this is basically a campfire ghost story that exists for the punchline. Which, of course, I won't give away.

Such a touching Donald Pleasence performance, a very poignant episode.

Tootie (Margaret O'Brien)---the look on her face when she says "I'm the most horrible." That's the childhood Halloween I treasure.

Rick is a mensch. And he gave one of the greatest American political speeches I've heard in my lifetime during the "Hands Off" protest.

Local smoked ham hock, boiled, pulled, put back in broth w/ cannellini beans (or navy beans) and 'rivels.' I can't cook like my mom so I use cavatelli pasta instead, almost as good. But that is a great winter soup. Going to have to make some now. Thanks for reminding me.

Samantha Eggar and Terence Stamp in the same year. They were so fresh and young in Wyler's "The Collector." Where did those 60 years ! go all of a sudden?! They were in their late 80s.
Nobody does the yearly memorial better than TCM. We respond to film on a deeply emotional level.

Grammar is a damaged person. A 'recovering' drug addict, married 4 times, family tragedy (his sister was murdered), and he just plain loves his money. Ironically, he's played both Scrooge and George Washington. Kelsey is a fool. I always wonder how his gay colleagues can stomach his politics.

And this is the actor who played George Washington in a tv mini-series!
