GNU Image Manipulation Program
@gimpofficial.bsky.social
Free (libre) software for creating, drawing, painting, editing images, processing photographs, and much more. Mature and widely used. Desktop/laptop: Windows, Mac, Linux and more. See www.gimp.org

Own your own files, your own data. Fully open source.
Where there’s a will thereś a way.

In GIMP you make each layer a frame, and file/export as/filename.gif, and choose Animated. You can control the speed by putting `(300ms)` (for eample) after the end of a layer name.

The image must be in Indexed mode, no layer groups.

Nous essayons de faire en sorte que GIMP ne fonctionne pas chez vous ; c’est un code secret qui vous détecte :-)

Non ! Vous êtes sur Mac ? Le problème pourrait venir du Centre de sécurité.

Sounds like you may have an old copy of twin.exe in your GIMP profile folder under plug-ins. If so, remove it (or move it well out of GIMP’s sight!)

In our case we mean freedom in the sense of the GNU Public Licence and the Four Freedoms: freedom to run the program, to study its source code, to redistribute exact copies, and to redistribute modified versions.

In human terms this means you own your data.

This is most likely a false positive - a file detected as containing a virus that actually doesn't, but that has the same fingerprint (checksum) as one that would. I am assuing you got GIMP directly from gimp.org of curse.

If you are getting GIMP directly from gimp.org, then no, no virus, it’s almost always a false positive. This happens quite often unfortunately.

It’s possible, since the feature isn’t in GIMP yet, so who knows? If you are (or know) a programmer wanting to work on it, we’d love to hear more. But at least one professional animator is involved, which is promising.

Maybe
Your image is indexed (Image->mode, switch to RGB)
You are using a speckled brush
Your airbrush is in Screen mode instead of Normal (check Tool Options)
Maybe there could be other reasons. Post full screenshot w/ tool options and layers & title bar & status bar showing?

We’d need to see what you mean by speckled. And what you mean by using transparency - if the background layer is transparent you should see a checkerboard by default in GIMP.

Yeah, this is always a problem with docks, inkscape has it too. Either you can't make them small enough or you end up hiding stuff. We try and improve it when it happens, and this one is on our list, we agree with you.
