I work from Chinese into English, so maybe I have some time left in this career, but I have heard of things being very difficult for many other language pairs. I wish for some sort of solidarity among translators to boycott PE of AI or MT output.

Certainly less from the large companies using AI and MTPE, but I'm lucky to be working with some companies that are less tech-oriented (PDF to Word or CAT tools only).

I've been turning these down by saying "I don't work with MTPE" if the email was addressed to me personally, and just ignoring them if I was CC'ed.

I've freelanced for for translation companies since 2006. In the last 3 years, there's been a bifurcating trend of large companies (the ones on NYSE) going all in on AI/MTPE and slashing rates to boost corporate profits, and boutique companies demanding "absolutely no AI" and "MT-prohibition".

To make an appt to update any SSC info, you have to call. Once you get through the hourslong wait, the agent enters your info into their internal system, then they send you a link to it, and ONLY THEN you have online access to the appt system. Extremely inefficient.
