Usually when it gets cold in the mountains, the varied thrushes come to the lowlands. So far this is the only visitor this season…

Snow is special in the PNW. It’s a nuisance elsewhere and some folks are sick of it. But here in the PNW lowlands it’s special and rare and ephemeral. We haven’t had any this winter until this morning. It’s barely sticking and will likely melt in an hour or so but I’ll enjoy it while I can.
