I made it to Loafi yesterday Alex! Got there early, later on they were queuing out the door! Custards tarts ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ also got some sausage rolls and a lemon sponge. All delicious. Thanks for the tip off (did a nice walk up to Peel Tower as well).

A wonderful “Lights Up 2025” #glowride Disco On Wheels cycle in Manchester this evening. Many parks & quiet routes feel unsafe to women & girls in the dark nights. About 200 cyclists with music+lights. Empowering ✊🚦💡🚲
Thanks organisers & ride leaders.

1) Blue tit. First (& only) visitor to my new bird feeder in my yard. It’s been up for weeks. Too many cats patrolling so I don’t get many birds coming down. So this one visit was super exciting!
2) Lots of long tailed tits mooching tree to tree in my local woods.
3) back of a jay flying off

Happy “beautiful trees in autumn sun” day everyone. Have a good one whatever you are up to! 📸🍂 #NorthernEngland

I made it! It was tasted absolutely as you described - totally delicious! (Swapped leeks for fennel & added courgettes). Thank you! 🙏 🙏🙏

Ridiculously excited to see two visitors to my new bird feeder just now. It’s been up since July and not seen a bean til today. It’s only a tiny yard & cats patrol the ally. I put a quince tree in a dustbin a few yrs ago & they perched on that first whilst sussing things out. #GardenForNature

Did you see the latest Nancy Birtwhistle post on Instagram? Using conkers to make natural detergent for your washing machine. Seems crazy but it works. I’m going to try it!

Worth a trip to Barrow for this! One of the UK's most influential documentary photographers was Chris Killip. His work captured life in the North East of England and is superb.
Exhibiting at Cooke Studios in Barrow: 19 Sept - 1 Nov 2025.

Glad they’re back 😍. Reminds me so much of this from @jimmoir1.bsky.social lots of great art, many birds & my favourites were his corvids. He captures their character so well. From current exhibition at the Lady Lever gallery in Port Sunlight.

Please let something positive come from this loss 🌳 🙏#SycamoreGap
Greater protection for our trees (& nature more generally) is desperately needed. The value is routinely ignored for the sake of short-term gain.

High summer grasses; this young meadow is starting to thicken up and gain more diversity. Vetch and Willow herb in flower, and plenty of butterflies. Meadow browns and Large whites. #nature

I have a small yard and all my growing is in pots. Conditions are not always ideal 😆. But when my clematis flowers, it brings so much joy. Even if I only get a few, it’s worth it.

Huge respect to Beeban Kidron 🙌. The filmmaker is doing fantastic work in the Lords to try to protect the livelihoods of UK creatives. The AI & Data Bill is being pushed through, but it will erode copyright protections. Another big day today as amendments are debated. Keep fighting Beeban!

Very sad to read my favourite #Lioness Fran Kirby is retiring from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 duty ahead of the Euros. A wonderful player, not sure who Sarina feels can do a better job. Fran’s statement is powerful, bearing no hard feelings, just respect, thanks and encouragement for the next generation. ⚽️

Any guesses what this photo shows? I’ve cropped it tight which makes it tricky. My brain went straight to a snow leopard 🐆, I think it’s the colours! 📸 #photography #abstract #nature

BUCKET POND UPDATE.
First sign of a new resident. Small but mighty 🐌 hopefully it doesn’t eat all the oxygenating plant life! 😆

I switched last year. Been using a SEEP sponge, made with loofah and cellulose sponge. 💯 % natural Excellent product, more expensive but it’s lasting way better than the plastic made ones I used to buy.
