What a delight. I Was Monty’s Double. Total classic, making the residents 14-year old gasp. (And here is Sid James at the start, with John Mills). It’s on BBC iplayer, if you fancy joining in.

The 14y/old’s delighted charity shop find this summer. Just completed all 3 series. Not just great writing and performances, but yet again, feels searingly relevant today.

Very pleased indeed to have caught Giant on its last day yesterday. So impressed that I bought the script AND the programme. Great work, @royalcourt.bsky.social 👏👏👏

We might need to discuss the term “hero”. But otherwise, sure is!

A while back, I decided more heavyweight CPD was in order (being the public affairs/ strategic comms guru that I am) and started a Media Law course w/ London School of Journalism. It’s NOT EASY. My appreciation of (esp, investigative) ethical journalists was already high, and just keeps rising.

Face covered in cobwebs, legs covered in dew. A lovely walk to work this morning.

25 more days til it’s 5 years of Norwegian Bokmål, with Italian, French, Scottish Gaelic & Welsh en route. Bloody love what Duolingo have done. (the Norsk course is FUN 🇳🇴… «sjefen hørtes ut som en bortskjemt barn», «edderkoppen ga ham overnaturlige krefter» & «jeg ligger på gulvet og gråter»…)

Yes, my eyes see the words, but my stubborn and happy brain sings,

“Marathon! Mmm! Peanuts and caramel! Marathon, peanuts and nougat! Lots of peanuts - slice after slice! Marathon!”

Whaddyaknow? I’m reading Five Nights At Freddy’s… My 14 y/old recommended a creepy short story- Andrea Waggener’s Blackbird and it’s outstanding. I’m told her next story (The Real Jake) is the best horror he’s ever read.

Gotta say, Blackbird’s up there with Tales of the Unexpected. #FNAF

The @uhperry.bsky.social exhibition in #Bath’s #VictoriaArtGallery is glowingly gorgeous, FUN & life-affirming! Free entry, with beauty AND wit. Don’t miss out. He’s a genuine Bath treasure.

Old dogs, new languages. Here’s four years and eight months of a wee bit daily.

“Which tongue?” I hear you plead! ;) Norwegian Bokmål- which is brilliant. Think English without Roman/Norman invasions, then go from there. A beautiful language!

One of the horrible facts* I share more than I’d like is that Bath & NE Somerset’s attainment gaps are worst in the country for age 7-11; 3rd worst for early years- democracy.bathnes.gov.uk/documents/s8...
*Other horrible facts are available - some good ones too: www.bathnes.gov.uk/strategic-ev...

Got tipped off that we had Northern Lights behind the clouds in #Bath tonight. Plenty of pinky green stuff for sure. Big camera, long exposure, all a bit Hammer-fuzzy.

Wasn’t here last year, but here is my traditional wintry silhouette of King’s, Cambridge… Happy Christmas, everyone.

I walked into this yesterday morning. You could “see” and not-see rainbow light underneath the shining grey. Marvellous light. (No filter, no fiddling).

Taking some time to follow the creative Bisto this morning. It’s a v rare opportunity (p/t & freelance ever-graftin’ single parent) but so much richer for that!
