Damn fine cup of budgie
In this Twin Peaks still, Dougie Jones, a man wearing a lime green jacket that is too big for him over a white shirt and striped tie, closes his eyes and grins as he prepares to enjoy a sip of coffee. In the original still, he is holding a white takeaway coffee cup with both hands and raising it to his mouth. In this version, a white budgie has been edited in its place.

The evolution of the Wing

The Bird Room

My bird has something to tell you

Things are scary and bad in a lot of places and ways right now, but I took my lil dog for a walk yesterday and this is what the beach looked like, and it helped me breathe a little.

Severance

Wink, the fluffy white Japanese Spitz, has been edited into a still from the TV show Severance. The four main characters, Mark, Helly, Irving and Dylan, are dressed in heavy black winter coats and furry hats. They stand in a snowy wooded area, looking towards a mound of snow in front of some icy water. They seem horrified at what they see, which is Wink lying on her side with her back facing the camera, but her head twisted to look back at what the person holding the camera is doing. Wink has been edited over what was a dead seal in the original still.

Severance
Wink the fluffy white Japanese Spitz has been edited into a still from the TV show Severance. She stands on her hind legs on an office chair, staring into a computer monitor. Her paws rest on a keyboard in front of the computer. She is in an office cubicle with four sides, with green dividers separating the other workers. Behind her we can see the face of Irving, and to the right of the picture we can see Mark S, both looking into the camera.

Pink Lake, looking way more beautiful than it felt in today's 35 degree heat.

Better Call Saul

Alien
A photograph of Ellen Ripley, the character played in the Alien films by Sigourney Weaver, holding Wink, a fluffy white Japanese Spitz. This is my favourite ever bird photo that I have taken : )
Bird of prey photographed in flight at a bird show. The bird is mid-flight in the top left of the photo and the speed at which it was moving has led to distortion of its face. Its head and eyes look comically wide and give the bird a confused-looking facial expression.

Eraserhead.

Tonight Wink stars in... Neverending Story. Ah-ah-ah ah-ah-ah ah-ah-ah.
Atreyu from the film Neverending Story stands gazing into the eyes of his luck dragon, Falkor, who takes up most of the frame of this photo. Falkor is a large furry white dragon-creature, but his head has been replaced with the head of Wink the Japanese Spitz. I am spending my Friday night exporting separate mono files from a project I created in Reaper. It was originally 24.2, and I am trying to remember all the strange decisions I made when I initially configured it about 4 years ago.

I really need to get back into doing this more regularly...

Inland Empire 🐇
A still from David Lynch's Inland Empire, specifically one of the Rabbits scenes, where rabbits in human clothing move about human spaces. I also like to edit pictures of my excellent dog Wink into my favourite TV shows and movies. I may post some of these here too because Why Not? and They Make Me Laugh, Anyway.
Wink, the fluffy white dog, is pictured to the right, standing on her hind legs to high five Evan, the main character in the hilarious TV show English Teacher, played by Brian Jordan Alvarez. It is a sunny day and Evan is on a green football field raising his right arm. In the show, he was batting away a football thrown at him, but the screenshot allowed Wink to be edited in so it looks like they are high fiving each other in celebration of how funny they both are.

I have a show coming up that I'm co-organising with my spatial sound collective, Starlings.

It's Saturday, Oct 21st at ACMI in Naarm/Melbourne. Doors at 6:30pm, a stellar lineup of audiovisual and spatial sound artists (and me).
