My Gr. 11 Canadian students studied Gatsby and Macbeth. Their final essay was to compare the above quotation from Gatsby with Macbeth’s reflection (Act 5.5) - I got some amazing work from them; the sentiment is timeless.

Rest assured the evils of slavery, historically and currently are well documented and preserved outside the USA - future generations won’t be ignorant of what happened or of who tried to abnegate responsibility for it. Maybe tRUmp should visit the William Wilberforce monument in Westminster Abbey?
