Seems like we're seeing a fragmentation in the way people cluster their values. Memes are mating and mixing in sub-cultures in ways that define the old lines. Like RFK - the guy represents such a weird mix of views.

Hey Kevin, I'm looking to learn a lot more about the bioregional movement starting next year. Who do you think are the key people I should tune into?

I think there are a couple of differences that *may* matter. The AT protocol: if others pick it up and run with it. Also, the ability to use custom domains for profile names. These things reduce network lock in, which reduces the temptation that's befallen all previous platforms.

Yeah, it's very interesting that Dixon works with these guys. His book is very mission-driven in tone and scope.

This reminds me of losing years of engagement and writing when Google+ shut down.

Social networks should run as a decentralize protocol. It's so frickin' obvious. I'm finishing Chris Dixon's "Read, Write, Own," where he makes the case pretty well.

"Not only did residents leave the biggest cities, but those who left disproportionately had high incomes, meaning the hit to those local economies was larger than migration numbers alone would imply."
