this is a remake of one of the first pony drawings I ever did, back in 2013
what a journey it's been
Fluttershy sits on a hill at sunset, her mane blown around by the wind, alongside some fallen leaves. She's dressed in a thick black scarf and has a flower tucked behind her ear. A butterfly has caught her attention, which she gazes at with awe. I originally drew something like this in 2013. I remember the image was specifically inspired by the song "Panic" by Caravan Palace. I imagined Fluttershy had outlived all of her friends (this was before Twilicorn), and the weird high-pitched singing in the song were the ghosts of her friends dancing on the wind, while the haunting female voice in the song was Fluttershy herself. Neat to see how far I've come over the years. Funnily enough, I feel as though my recent change in art direction was really a return to form. The things I draw now have more in common with what I drew 12 years ago than what I drew the rest of those years. Still, feels like I have a ways to go. "You had to travel half the world to realize what you knew all along."

Princess Luna, pregnant and laying down. Her mane and tail billow out into a starry dreamscape, in which she flies beside a representation of her future child. Normally I'd put this sort of work on a different account, but I figured this idea was cute and tame enough, and the execution pretty enough, to warrant putting here on my main account. Originally I was unsure of how to go about this. How do the dreams of a being that has never seen anything even LOOK like? Could've been some sort of cosmic horror stuff, but I figured the spirit of the suggestion was meant to be more wholesome, and my brain ultimately went with that vibe when I first started sketching it.

September's vote was for a "Trixie magic show"
A dynamic low angle of Trixie striking a pose, looking back with confidence as firework-like magic explodes in the distance. This was surprisingly fun to work on. The pose kinda grew more dynamic as time went on, and the lighting was a good time. I especially like how the cloak shading came out, particularly around her back.
