For #AdoorableThursday, few doorways are more interesting than this: the utterly fabulous south door of Kilpeck Church in Herefordshire.
A small wooden door affixed with straight and curved metal bars is located within an elaborately carved stone frame. This description can only touch upon the main points of this major artwork. On either side are two columns, the outer ones carved with dragons, the inner one on the left with warriors, and the inner one on the right with interlacing foliage. Immediately above the door is a band of chevrons, and above that a tree of life in a semicircular compartment. Arching over this compartment are three main bands of decoration: geometric, mostly animal heads, and a great variety of figures separated by stylised heads with a large dragon's head on either side at the start and end of this band.
