Lol, I was trying to explain this very concept to a friend when we visited the LHS this past weekend, the response was "but how there are so many cool figures"

I chuckled and said "Said myself in 2004... I'm still recovering from that decision"

They were all. HOW DID YOU CHANGE IT ALL LIKE THAT??? I had just copied my personal PC's configurations over to my Mainframe account, but most of the kids in my intro class were thinking it was some kind of magic...

Yeah, when I went to college for Comp Sci we were expected to do all our work on an dec alpha mainframe using gcc and a terminal I was ahead of the game. I remember my login was talked about by my classmates when they discovered my login being different in the Linux lab, huzzah dot files 🤣😂

I was recently talking with a friend I've had since High school and him talking about how confusing using VIM was, and it should figure that I would know how to use it. He was shocked when I pointed out that I was playing Quake with him back in the late 90's on Linux and that was when I learned it.

Camping on the banks near a brook/stream like that is some of the best sleep I've ever had. It's amazing the power nature can have on one's mood!

Funnily recently my father apologized for all the crap he gave me about wanting to run Linux, and said you were right to do so and I just didn't see it back then...

I remember one of those attempts being ~45 minutes before the failure and at the time I was still living at my parents house and my dad was all, "See if you just used Windows this wouldn't be a problem!"

In my head, this is our new little Linux/unix Newblets 😁
a man wearing sunglasses is smiling with his mouth open .
Alt: a man wearing sunglasses is smiling while basking in the light (implied: that light is the warm loving glow of a PC running a Linux or Unix based operating system)

Funnily, I just found my 13 floppy Windows 95 install media set today... Which was NOT full windows 95 and it amuses me that Microsoft killed the floppy version after a relatively short period of time due to issues that cropped up

I'm sure you can torment Brennan enough on Game Changers to make sure it happens at least once more 🤣
