genuine tip: if you are ever in doubt of where you're allowed to walk, ask local dogwalkers. they will all know which fields are fine and which are off limits

I really truly love that you can walk more or less anywhere in this country, with the exceptions of motorways and private land (and even the latter part is a point of contention if it is 'private land' within the countryside and encroaching on historic right of way)

for reference, these are the 4 counties which make up Cumbria: Westmorland and Cumberland were completely absorbed so the Cumbrian flag straight up replaces them : )
