I agree with this, canned tomatoes absolutely have their place. So does canned pumpkin, some fruit preserves (mostly jarred rather than canned these days). Canned chickpeas for easy hummus is a fixture in our house.

My husband had this with most vegetables, he grew up with mostly canned. Now that he's experienced fresh versions he loves almost all of 'em (haven't quite converted him on green beans).
