i despise the mccune-reischauer system of romanizing korean into english. DESPISE IT. we need a better system, and publishers should also just print the goddamn hangul in front of it bc this damn system is so difficult to parse.

my eye twitches every time koreans/korean americans bring up/lean into han, and there will be 2,000 words in this book explaining why i hate it so much 🥲 can’t wait for koreans to come for me, but, HI, it’s a colonialist notion — the japanese used it essentially to defend their occupation of korea.

ok wow kyobo ships internationally really fast, and the bangtan book (in its original korean version) is quite nice, printed on thick paper and stitched in a way that it lies flat.

moono now makes their pyongyang naengmyeon noodles in-house using buckwheat ground in maine, and they have truffle jajangmyeon, à la jua, on the menu! i don’t typically care for truffles tbh, but, look, this jajangmyeon is GREAT. 🥰
